About Us

The William Penn West Highland White Terrier Club, Inc. was formed in the early 1980's as a result of a merger between The Greater Philadelphia West Highland White Terrier Club and the Delaware Valley West Highland White Terrier Club. We are sanctioned as the Westie breed club for the greater Philadelphia area by the American Kennel Club (AKC) as well as the official Philadelphia regional club by the West Highland White Terrier Club of America (WHWTCA).
                                        
Our club is devoted to the welfare of West Highland White Terriers. We provide help and support to Westie owners, breeders, and our parent club, the WHWTCA. 

Our members' dogs have competed successfully in the breed ring and in the performance ring, winning top honors in these competitions. We have an active rescue program to help Westies in need of finding a new home. As a club, we take pride in the fact that William Penn members have assisted the WHWTCA every year at their National Specialty which is held in conjunction with Montgomery Country Kennel Club . 

Our club takes great pride in providing our members with activities and opportunities aimed at developing in each member an extensive knowledge of the Westie and the responsibilities of good dog ownership. Many of our members are breeders who are willing to share their knowledge and years of experience with others. As a club, William Penn is especially proud of the emphasis placed on Westie health. We encourage new Westie owners to join us in learning more about the breed and to volunteer to help with our club activities during the year. In the spring of each year, we host a Match Show and a Specialty Show. All club members are encouraged to help and participate in these fun events. View a list of our current committees.

Our membership chairperson is always ready to assist anyone who would like to become a member or to find out more about our club. Membership meetings are held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Washington, PA, in the months of September, November, February, and June.
